The company’s 60th anniversary witnessed the formal opening of the new Medolla headquarters, which will now be used to coordinate the firm’s international branches.
The President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini was also present at the inauguration
Medolla, 16 October 2021 – This morning, OLI Spa formally opened its new facility in Medolla, near Modena. The company is a leading multinational in the field of industrial vibration technology, designing, producing and marketing industrial vibrators, electric vibrators, concrete vibrators and frequency converters, as well as a wide range of products designed to adapt to many applications in a wide variety of industrial fields: ranging from the medical to construction sectors, and from the automotive to energy industries.
The inauguration of the new building coincided with the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the company. Since its direction under Vainer Marchesini, the business has grown to become a global reference point in its sector, and is now also involved in the design and construction of complete systems for eBikes and electrospindles, working in collaboration with the University of L’Aquila. The company’s headquarters is in Medolla, the site where the products are developed and the company’s 23 international branches and 6 production plants in five continents are all coordinated. Piero Corsi, who founded OLI in 1961, was also present at the inauguration.
The company’s General Manager, Giorgio Gavioli, gave the following explanation: „Todayrepresents something very important for OLI, but not a point of arrival: our aim is to always look ahead, and not to stop. Our products are constantly evolving, as well as our business. We open OLI branches wherever the market requires products, respecting the language, culture and tradition of the places we are involved in, on all five continents. Our company operates on a global market, but has its headquarters in Medolla; some would call it a glocal company, i.e. a localised business with a global reach, and I think this is one of our secret weapons. This is why we are interested in professionals who share our vision: that of an open, accessible world, with skilled, dedicated people, who want to develop both professionally and in human terms.”
Vainer Marchesini, President of the WAMGROUP, added this: „OLI is a global company, and there is a profound difference between localisation, delocalisation, internationalisation and globalisation. This is a global company, a company that produces pieces and then assembles them wherever there is a market. To do this, you need a thinking head that makes this system of production possible, and that „head” is here in Medolla, where we are today. OLI’s success is the result of a clear, well-defined strategy, long-term investments, and the training of managers, company executives and staff. The financial crisis of 2008 and the terrible earthquake of 2012 meant that we spent 5 years focusing on reconstruction. But we managed to grow just the same. We re-established the company and maintained our growth by moving production to other sites, as everything here was totally destroyed. It was a tough slog with everyone helping out: customers, suppliers, the State, the Region and President Bonaccini, all of whom have always been by our side. But the greatest contribution was from our own people: people whose drive, sacrifices, passion, commitment, sense of belonging and talent have made all this possible. We have emerged from all these misfortunes in a better state. The growth of this company has also been due to the growth of the Corporate entity and our highly skilled workforce; we are among those businesses who have encouraged talent back to Italy. I appeal to everyone, because we Italians should not just sell our companies to foreign multinationals – we are able, as we have demonstrated, to do much more. We should be masters of our own destiny, because we have all the necessary capabilities.”
Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region also gave this assessment: „The production sector in Emilia-Romagna is largely made up of stories like the one we are celebrating today: companies that started life as family businesses and then became international leaders in their respective sectors, thanks to the quality of their products and the professionalism of their management and workforce. This is a great asset for our Region, and enables us to compete and meet the challenges of the markets, often winning against larger and better-equipped opponents. We are committed to promoting these businesses and helping them keep pace with the times: starting with the ecological and digital transition, the main pillars of the Work and Climate Plan and at the heart of the investments in the Government’s NRRP.”
OLI combines the virtues of Italian expertise with the global strategy of the Wolong Group of which the company is part. Indeed, the business continues to follow the 4 tenets of the philosophy developed over the past six decades: listening, collaboration, proactiveness and responsibility. The company now has 500 employees around the world, and a turnover of about 110 million Euros.
